Description
Most children quickly see the connection between addition and subtraction as they understand the connection between receiving items and having the same quantity after giving them back as what they started with. This is not always the case with understanding the connection between multiplication and division. Often skipcounting and multiplication are taught completely separately from division. Combining smaller rods into a larger and then splitting up the larger rod into the same smaller rods again using one visual model can illustrate this connection.
